La bohème

Stephanie Sundine began directing in 1998 after retiring from a distinguished career singing soprano roles in many of the world’s most important opera houses. For Sarasota Opera she has directed Die Fledermaus, Il trovatore, Otello, Don Carlos, Tosca, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly, La bohème, Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci, Macbeth, Ariadne auf Naxos, Falstaff, Les Pêcheurs de perles (including a revival of that production), La rondine and L’Arlesiana.

She has directed Il Trovatore for Opera New Jersey, Roméo et Juliette for the University of KY Opera Theater, Ernani for Opera Boston, Rigoletto for Opera Santa Barbara (also for Ft. Worth Opera), Lucia di Lammermoor and Les Pêcheurs de perles for Opera Carolina, Aida, La fanciulla del West, Tosca and Macbeth for Utah Opera, Les Pêcheurs de perles for Atlanta Opera and Madison Opera, La bohème for Indiana University Opera Theater, and La traviata for Indianapolis Opera and Opera Santa Barbara. Other credits as stage director include Macbeth and Aida for Syracuse Opera, Madama Butterfly for Toledo Opera, OperaDelaware, Utah Festival Opera and Harrisburg Opera, and Otello for OperaDelaware.
