Michael Unger, Stage Director
Of Mice and Men
Stage Director Michael Unger's work with Sarasota Opera has included the productions of Samuel Barber's Vanessa and Robert Ward's The Crucible as part of Sarasota Opera's American Classics Series. In addition, Mr. Unger has also directed the Winter Opera Festival production of L’amico Fritz, La rondine, and Die Fledermaus. He has directed musical and dramatic theater in New York City and throughout the country, most recently new versions of Kander and Ebb's The Happy Time at the Signature Theatre and The Rink starring Leslie Uggams and Janet Metz at the Cape Playhouse. He also directed the world premiere musicals, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Barrington Stage Company, Behind The Limelight and Caligula (NYMF), Dillinger: The Musical and La Gioconda at the Harold Clurman Theatre. In Sarasota he directed the Asolo Conservatory production of Love's Fire, a collection of short plays by America's most honored playwrights based upon Shakespeare sonnets.
