Sarasota, FL – Sarasota Opera and Sarasota Orchestra will team up to offer an afternoon of great music and more on Sunday, January 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. The public is invited to this free event, which will take place at the historic Sarasota Opera House at 61 N. Pineapple Avenue in downtown Sarasota. No tickets are required.
The two Sarasota organizations have joined together in the past for concerts and this past November for a full opera production of the Barber of Seville. This will be the first time these two arts organizations have jointly offered a community event of this type.
The Orchestra and singers from the Opera will offer performances on the stage of the William E. Schmidt Opera Theater of the Sarasota Opera House as well as outside in the Donna Wolf Steigerwaldt Courtyard. There will also be performances by the Sarasota Youth Opera.
The afternoon event is suitable for families and will include a display and demonstration of orchestral instruments. There will also be displays of costumes from opera productions. Throughout the theater Opera and Orchestra staff will present information and answer questions about both organizations.
Free refreshments, special ticket offers, prize drawings and a free gift (while supplies last) will be given to all who attend.
