Sarasota Opera and the Sarasota Orchestra have announced that they are again collaborating on a fall opera season presenting Verdi’s beloved opera La traviata. The performances will take place on October 30, November 1 (matinee), 3, 5, 8 (matinee), and 11 at the Sarasota Opera House.
This is second time the two organizations have worked together on a fall opera season, which will include six performances (one more than last year). Additionally, in the fall of 2003, 2004, and 2005 Maestro DeRenzi conducted the orchestra with vocal soloists in concerts of opera highlights as part of the opera’s Fall Outreach and Concert Seasons.
Sarasota Opera’s Executive Director Susan T. Danis commented, “We are very happy to be collaborating once again with the Sarasota Orchestra. During these challenging times it seems only natural to work together on a production when it is feasible for the benefit of both organizations and our audiences. Such an outstanding orchestra will help to ensure the success of our production of La traviata.”
Joseph McKenna, the Orchestra’s President and CEO agrees. “We are thrilled about the opportunity to again join with the Sarasota Opera. This artistic collaboration is an exciting opportunity for two groups of extremely talented artists to come together and offer our community another exciting cultural experience.”
Tickets for all six performances of La traviata are now on sale through the Sarasota Opera Box Office at (941) 366-8450, ext. 1 or online at
