Sarasota Opera Recipient of Sudakoff Foundation Grant for
Refurbishment of Ringling Terrace Apartments
Sarasota, FL – Sarasota Opera received a grant in the amount of $10,500 from the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation for the purpose of covering the cost associated with refurbishing the Ringling Terrace Apartments (RTA), the multi-unit apartment complex owned by the Sarasota Opera Association which is used to house visiting and guest artists year around.
Due in major part to the generosity of the Sudakoff Foundation, Sarasota Opera was able to purchase 30 chairs, 45 2-drawer storage units, and bed spreads/comforters and associated linens for the bedrooms of each apartment thus increasing the comfort level for resident and guest artists.
When Sarasota Opera is in season RTA serves as a primary residence for guest artists, seasonal production staff and administrative interns offering a comfortable, low cost housing option as well as easy proximity to the Opera House (two blocks) and downtown area.
When Sarasota Opera is not performing, RTA serves as a wonderful rental housing option for area nonprofits. Sarasota Opera has enjoyed long standing partnerships with organizations such as the Sarasota Film Festival, The Carreño Dance Festival, Sarasota Ballet and Florida Studio Theater who collectively bring over 100 visiting artists to the Sarasota area.
