Sarasota Opera is once again creating opera memories, partnering with London Arts Discovery Tours to offer you, our patrons, an unrivaled opportunity to gain real behind-the-scenes insight into the arts-rich culture of London and Hampshire. Join Maestro Victor DeRenzi from May 31 to June 5, 2010, for a memorable journey that includes:
- Accommodations at a five-star hotel in the heart of London
- Exquisite meals at world-famous restaurants offering the best of British and European cuisines
- Performances at world-renowned venues
- Excursions to the English countryside and to the newest of London’s art museums
London Arts Discover tour directors, have been providing meticulously planned and creatively detailed tours for arts patrons since 1981. Daily itineraries combine performances and events with a series of complementary discussions and talks with leading members of the theatre and opera professions. Add in the special magic only Maestro DeRenzi can provide and we believe that this London Tour will be one of Sarasota Opera’s most memorable.
Price per person:* 5600 USD
Single supplement:* 1400 USD
*Does not include cost of individual arrivals to, and departures from, a London airport. Due to the tour being in London and Currency fluctuation, we reserve the right adjust the price according to the exchange rate when the final payment is due.
Includes:
- 5 nights at Dukes Hotel, St. James Place, ideally located for access to London’s fashionable shops and restaurants
- Full English Breakfast daily
- Welcome Dinner at Scott’s, where Ian Fleming discovered the “shaken, not stirred” dry martini
- Supper on two other performance evenings, including an elegant picnic dinner (with champagne!) served during the extended intermission at Grange Park Opera
- Performances include (subject to availability)
- Donizetti’s La fille du regiment at the Royal Opera House with Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Florez
- A performance at the The English National Opera at the London Coliseum
- The festival performance of Capriccio by Richard Strauss amid the lush gardens of Grange Park Opera
- Fourth performance TBD, perhaps a production at one of London’s Finest Theaters
- Behind-the-scenes discussions with the senior management of The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, an inside look at English National Opera
- Luxurious coach bus transport to all events not within easy walking distance of the hotel, and for all sightseeing excursions
