Sarasota Opera Relief Fund

On March 13, 2020 Sarasota Opera was forced to suspend all operas, concerts and events of the 2020 Winter Opera Festival.

Over 250 artists, musicians, crew and staff were disappointed that they could not share their extraordinary talents with you. At the same time, we felt it was important to pay our artists for their full contract, and house them until they felt it was safe to travel back to their homes. We are providing ticket buyers the option of a credit or refund for their tickets they held to canceled performances.

Despite the immense financial impact, we opted to continue to take care of our Sarasota Opera Family. We estimate the loss of revenue from refunded tickets, as well as the cancelations of future events to be held at the Sarasota Opera House, to be close to $1 million. In addition, by offering credits towards next season, we are impacting our income for next year.

That is why we are asking you to support the Sarasota Opera Relief Fund by making a tax deductible* donation of tickets for canceled performances or considering a cash gift. By doing so, you are helping to limit the financial impact to the company and ensuring the stellar performances and uplifting experience you are used to will be waiting for you when you return to the opera house.

For those donors who elect to support our Relief Fund, we are offering the ability to view the four operas of our season, La bohème, Romeo and Juliet, The Elixir of Love and La Wally, online for a limited time.

If you would like to support the Sarasota Opera Relief Fund, please select an option below for a cash or ticket donation. All gifts to the relief fund are tax deductible* and donors will enjoy our regular donor benefits next season. If you are a current donor, your extra support will be added to your annual gift and will be recognized accordingly.
