Patron Service Representative, Part Time

Position: Patron Service Representative, Part Time

The key responsibilities of the position are to sell and promote Sarasota Opera activities in an efficient and professional manner and to be thoroughly knowledgeable of all opera events. Must be computer literate, able to learn the ticketing software quickly, and enjoy dealing with the general public.

Seasonal Technical Director

Position: Seasonal Technical Director

The Seasonal Technical Director is an independent contractor who, under the guidance of the Director of Production, is responsible for the management of an IATSE crew of at least 16 as well as coordinating and facilitating the various technical needs of both our Fall and Winter repertory opera seasons. Depending on candidate availability, there is the possibility for additional work before and after the seasons. 

Draper

Position: Draper

The draper is a seasonal independent contractor who is responsible for working directly with our resident costume designer to prepare garments for Sarasota Opera’s 2022 winter season. The winter season encompasses four main stage operas running in rotating rep. The draper plays a key role within a costume department that has a staff of fifteen. Including preparation of garments for assembly, fitting, leading alterations, and attending dress rehearsals as needed. 

Stitcher

Position: Stitcher

The stitcher is a seasonal independent contractor who is responsible work directly with our resident costume designer to prepare garments for Sarasota Opera’s 2022 winter season. The winter season encompasses four main stage operas running in rotating rep. The stitchers play a key role within a costume department that has a staff of fifteen. Including assembling of garments, assisting in fittings, doing alterations, and supervising volunteers as needed. 

Auditions

Apprentice Artists Program

Applications for the Winter 2023 Apprentice Program are being accepted now through August 20th. The program runs January 11 through March 26, 2023 and includes participating in the chorus of the four Main Stage productions of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Verdi's Ernani and Massenet’s Thérèse. Participants will have opportunities to participate in masterclasses, cover MainStage roles, perform in concerts, and other performance opportunities, as well as receive musical, dramatic, and language coaching.

Studio Artists Program

Singers who wish to audition for the Studio Artists Program must have:

  • Career potential as an operatic soloist
  • Minimum of three seasons experience with nationally recognized young artists programs
  • Have performed a minimum of three substantial operatic roles with orchestra
  • Impeccable professional references (references will be checked)
