A Personal Invitation
I’m thrilled to invite you to join me on a trip of some of England’s summer opera companies. The UK country house opera tradition is very special. It pairs high quality opera productions with the idyllic settings of the English countryside. One unique feature of this experience is the long dinner interval (we call them intermissions), when you can enjoy a delicious dinner before returning to the theater for the rest of the performance.
We’ve also included a visit to London’s iconic Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Since two of the operas we’ll be seeing are based on a work of Shakespeare, it’s also appropriate that we visit his birthplace at Stratford-upon-Avon in the beautiful Cotswolds’ hills.
The operas we’ll see include Handel’s Hercules, Verdi’s La traviata and Falstaff, Rossini’s Le Cenerentola (Cinderella), and Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. The trip includes stays in London, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the luxurious Ockenden Manor hotel, in Sussex near Glyndebourne.
These trips are highlights for our patrons. Many find new friends and enjoy sharing these bespoke, once in a lifetime, travel experiences. Our tour director, Dan Cooperman of Dolce Cultural Tours, has put together a wonderful itinerary with interesting tours, delicious dining, and time to explore the charming towns of the English countryside.
And by joining me on this trip, you will be supporting Sarasota Opera.
I look forward to sharing this unique experience with you!
With warm regards,
Richard Russell
